Before the presentation, several guests conducted a roundtable discussion on the importance of investing in women for the future. They discussed perspectives on women in tech and female discrimination, including cases in the Silicon Valley such as the recent firing of a Google engineer after he released a paper on gender differences.

Investment Manager Sun Lulu believes that women and men have their own strengths, weaknesses and areas of interest, and that there are some fields currently being ignored by male investors. To not invest in women would be to miss out on a great potential market, said Sun. Furthermore, she believes that women also have a unique and keen vision to recognise and seize business opportunities.

Director of 36 Kr Li Jinwen said that males and females each have their own complementary strengths. For example, she believes that women are stronger presenters than men, and can be more resilient in the face of challenges. Li also believes that women are more sophisticated thinkers, socially adept, and can care for their team members’ emotions. Women can also be stronger at human resources management.
